MIAMI, FLA. – October 13, 2026 – SAMJO PRODUCTIONS is proud to announce that "THUNDER," the opening track from Miami-based artist HELIO's debut EP AFFIRMATIONS, has been accepted for consideration in the Best R&B Solo Performance category at the 2027 GRAMMY Awards. First-round voting by Recording Academy members is open now through October 22, 2026, with nominations to be announced on November 16, 2026..
Released October 4, 2025, "THUNDER" was born during a studio session HELIO describes as unlike any other. As he and his producer began laying down the melody, he was moved to tears — "jolted in my soul," an experience he says has repeated twice since. At the center of the production is an instrument of HELIO's own creation, the "Thunder Drum," which fuses the sounds of lightning and thunder into what he calls a more cosmic bass drum. Lyrically, the song moves through prayer and introspection, recalling the lessons and messages that carried him through his darkest seasons. HELIO's intention is for listeners to dive into the ocean of their own story — and to feel safe in the arms of a Supernatural Source.

A child abuse survivor and U.S. Navy veteran, HELIO is an independent singer, songwriter, producer, and composer originally from Moreno Valley, California. Rooted in gospel and Italian classical music, his voice pairs dramatic intensity with refined craftsmanship, and his Progressive R&B sound draws freely from pop, EDM, and gospel. With "THUNDER," he sets his sights on joining the growing ranks of independent artists recognized by the Recording Academy.
The campaign caps a breakout year. HELIO released two EPs, including AFFIRMATIONS, co-produced by SL THE DON (Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Tory Lanez), and his first major collaboration, "Dancing All Night," featuring Latin music and TV star Amara La Negra. He has twice been named one of the month's top 10 Miami artists to listen to by the Miami New Times, which wrote:
